What's not to like when you stay in a 12th Century Inn? If you are expecting a luxury hotel don't stay here. It is a wonderful 12th century inn with a comfortable four poster, a view out of the window to die for and a great big tele. The breakfast was delicious and the staff friendly. Yes you do have to go along windy lanes to get there but this is what Cornwall is about .If you have a sense of history ,this is your place. We stayed there on our trip both on the way in and out of Cornwall loved it.

Nestled in an idyllic location- and as picture postcard as advertised - this is a typical English pub - the food was excellent and plentiful and always served with a smile.. the staff we met were great and our room had all the basics needed , not 5star but more than adequate and despite the pub underneath was very quiet - we were never disturbed by the pub noise itself… so very happy to stay here again.

I've stayed in the hotel many times, but this time I stayed in the Friar's Rest self-catering cottage. It had everything that was needed. A good kitchen area, comfortable settee, great shower room, large upstairs mezzanine-type bedroom. Plenty of storage space. There was even a complementary bottle of wine and a large bottle of milk in the fridge. Would love to stay here again.

Unfortunately we were not told the hours for breakfast although it was stressed we needed to bring the token provided. We came for breakfast at 9.15 to be told after searching for someone that they had stopped serving and we had missed breakfast altogether. I afterwards found a note on the back of the bedroom door in very small print at the bottom of the page with food serving hours

The best part of our stay was definitely the friendliness of the staff. They were really very pleasant and helpful. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The landlady actually upgraded us to a better room, which was nice. The dinner menu was fairly typical for a pub and our choices were cooked as requested. I would have liked to see more choice of vegetables with the meal options.
